Oh my, I’ve been asked several of these questions! I do get quite a few general IT questions, as well as #4, #7, #8, #11, and #15. Most of these questions don’t bother me at all. I mean, how would a potential client know NOT to ask? But #11, #15, and #17 do get me a bit irate; I would seriously have to consider whether I’d want to work with someone who asked me to “throw something together” for free so they can decide if they want to hire me or not!

Also, I offer different tiers of services, for every budget. I sometimes get clients asking why they’re not #1 on Page 1 of Google when they only wanted to pay for a small one-page generic bargain basement website without any offsite services like online marketing or social media.

I mostly work for charities and my favorite one is “Can you place a ‘donate’ button here and there? It won’t be expensive, though, will it? It’s only a donate button”. Our answer: We place the donate button for free. We only charge for what happens after you click on it!!

In reply to Angelina Clack. You have to limit your revisions. 2 or 3 max. Design is like fashion, it never ends. Essentially they are paying you for your time, and design is never finished.

Just on Sunday had a client email me at 8pm for the millionth revision I asked why it wasn’t sent earlier she remarked she sent it to her accountant on accident. My roommate pondered what he charged the crazy lady that refers to herself in the 3rd person and has motivational rhymes.

I recently had no. 6, “Why didn’t you answer my call on Sunday?” and the
answer (in my head at least) was that I don’t answer after hours calls
for clients with three outstanding invoices!

I love number 8, “a quick logo” which is a bit like “a simple booking system” or a “simple e-commerce website”!
